Water Pogo – The Hydrofoil Water Scooter

by

Hydrofoil Water ScooterThis has got to be the coolest man powered form of water transportation, the hydrofoil water scooter.

It’s a light weight contraption that you have to hop up and down on in order to propel forwards, think of it as a pogo stick for the water. It has a estimated top speed of 17 mph so you’ll easily be able to bounce past swimmers and rowing boats, just imagine the speed Tigger would be able to go.

This is going to be added to my one day “I’ll get one list”, available online (just shy of $500) from Hammacher and check out the video of it in action.

17 mph is not bad for this feather weight, would love to have one.

I recently saw a guy using one of these near English Bay in Vancouver and was immediately thrilled. However, I noticed that he seemed to have to “pogo” fairly hard to keep it going, and returned to the dock after circuits lasting maybe 30 seconds each. My conclusion was that this is a neat toy for someone who is pretty fit, not intended for going on leisurely trips across the lake.

Hey does anyone know what happens when you are out in the middle of the lake and fall over on this device can you get back on it and start going again? Has anyone had experience with this?
