If you actually want your child to learn how to play trumpet, this is a very bad idea. As a trumpet player and music teacher, I can tell you that this toy will only hinder the learning process. The hardest part when it comes to playing the trumpet is not the fingerings; it's developing the lip muscles and correct air flow. Giving your child this toy because you find his or her playing to be annoying is bad parenting. it's like buying your kid a computer game when he asks to learn baseball. Encourage your kids to play the REAL instrument, there is absolutely NO substitute. if you want a $400 project for YOUR sanity, then sound proof her room. This is a joke.

I've been playing my trumpet for nearly five years, and I'm here to tell you that this is the biggest waste of money ever. To the author of the article: Your daughter will NEVER improve as a musician with something like this. Humming? Pfft. It is true that learning to play the trumpet is nasty for those in close proximity...but only until the student improves, which happens relatively quickly especially if you allow them to practice their actual instrument. With this, you're basically paying $400 to help your kid learn fingerings. Get off the stage.
