Beginners Digital Trumpet

Electronic Trumpet
My 8 year old daughter is learning how to play the trumpet which means I’m subjected to what can only be called ear abuse a few times a week (she’s meant to practice everyday though I do find that hard to encourage). Which is why the following instrument caught my eye, the digital trumpet.

This trumpet is a great learning tool for students, and makes blowing much easier (you hum). It also has a teaching mode that uses illuminated LEDs to show you which valves to press to play particular tunes (10 in total). It’s also good for fellow household members as it has a volume control (and hopefully a headphone jack).

It’s not cheap t $400 but think of your ear drums, sanity and your child’s musical aspirations :)

I’ve been playing my trumpet for nearly five years, and I’m here to tell you that this is the biggest waste of money ever. To the author of the article: Your daughter will NEVER improve as a musician with something like this. Humming? Pfft. It is true that learning to play the trumpet is nasty for those in close proximity…but only until the student improves, which happens relatively quickly especially if you allow them to practice their actual instrument. With this, you’re basically paying $400 to help your kid learn fingerings. Get off the stage.
