Displays on Credit Cards

Image Smart Cards
These new smart cards look pretty cool, they let you interact with your card in a totally different way. As well as a simple LCD display you can also enter information via six tiny keys. From the picture it is difficult to tell exactly how thin the card is but it doesn’t look any thicker than a conventional credit card.

I can think of all sorts of uses for cards like this, things like gift vouchers that let you display the remaining credit, incentive cards that display points accumulated so far or as a simple password protected information store that is always in your wallet.

Combining this technology with RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) could lead to even more exciting applications. With shops being able to wirelessly communicate with your loyalty card and tell you what special offers you qualify for. I must admit it seems a bit big brother but cool none the less.
