D-Link Wireless Internet Camera

As one of the leading provider of wired and wireless IP (Internet Protocol) Cameras, D-Link once again introduces another new member of the SECURICAM Network family of the Internet Cameras: the DCS-6620G. Featuring Wireless G capability (802.11g wireless connectivity) with 10x optical zoom lens, this Internet camera also features dual codec support, built-in microphone, and low light-sensitivity. With its small size, it sits easily undetected in a corner. This device is the best solution for monitoring your home security needs.

The DCS-6620G Internet Camera features motorised pan, tilt, and optical/digital zoom functions, allowing users greater viewing options. With 10x optical zoom auto focus / auto iris lens, it provides great clarity in recording motion pictures than just using digital zoom alone. It supports MPEG motion and MPEG-4 recordings, delivering greater file integrity. Because MPEG-4 video has good compression, thus creating small files, the camera requires only very small bandwidth networks.

With built-in microphone, as well as a speaker, one can remotely communicate with the other end party over a 2-Way Audio feature. In extreme darkness, the camera performs well too, enabling recording in near total darkness.

Using the freedom of wireless connectivity, the DCS-6620G offers hassle-free “wireless” installation, supporting the various secure connections: WPA-PSK, TKIP, and WEP.

With a small investment for maximum security, this wireless Internet camera offers maximum versatility for all kind of surveillance.

I feel like strangling whomever it was that invented the zoom feature on cameras. Seems like every vid I see has that obligatory (and stupid) zoom shot in it. As if I can’t choose to see what I want to see in the shot myself.

Moronic camera operators feel driven to grind my nose into every scene. The world (to them) is all close-ups. Drives me nuts!

Wanna see a stop sign? Go ahead put your nose on that metal plate. Wanna see a mountain? Go lick the rocks on it. That’ll put you close. So idiotic!

I’m using the DCS-6620G for my – nice webcam, but needs more control over exposure and focus – see my comments on that page and I’d LOVE any suggestions.
