Google Talk
Seems like Google are pretty busy these days sticking fingers in as many pies as possible. In the last couple of months they have released the excellent Google Earth, a big revision to their Desktop Search and now they are entering the IM (Instant Messanger) market with the all new Google Talk.

It’s a quick and easy download and install and upon first impressions the GUI looks very clean and simple (as you would expect from Google), if you already have a GMail account you can use that with Google talk.

Presently the features seem very limited, there is no way to import contacts from other IM clients and you can only communicate with fellow users of Google talk which at present there aren’t many but expect that to rise rapidly with blog entries like this getting the word out.

I think I’ll be waiting for version 2 as at the moment it doesn’t offer me as many features as my current IM client, but I’ll be watching it with interest.
